I have been forcing myself to use up all the different scraps I have laying around my office, and if you are a passionate paper crafter (like myself) you find it almost impossible to throw out ANY paper scrap. So I purged a bit yesterday and then forced myself to use up many of the scraps that I just couldn’t throw out. I even had my kids at a station putting together a few kits, LOL!
The creations I thought were so FAB were these TINY note cards that I made… it’s a combo of several different kits and pieces,
I had TONS of pieces from the LAYERS OF GRATITUDE Paper Pumpkin kit laying around, and honestly I wasn’t in love with the original design of that kit… the cards and the boxes- I just wasn’t feelin’ it. BUT…
I cut down those long cards into 4 mini cards, simply cutting on every other score line, and they were the perfect card bases. Then I trimmed down my card bases of the SEW YOU Paper Pumpkin kit, simply cutting on the score lines to double my black and white pattern paper- they come to 3-1/2′ x 2-1/2″ when cut down.
I backed the pattern paper with a solid piece of card stock that was 1/8″ larger than the measurements above and backed my pattern with a pop of color. I LOVE this look!
The little flags and the twine are from a kit that retired on June 2nd called HAPPENINGS. I have a TON of these little flags laying around… so I stamped them ALL up using the BRAVO set with coordinating ink color and a sentiment that would be good for almost anything.
Here’s a tip: if you don’t have a lighter and a darker shade of coordinating inks but want to create a distinctive layered look that you can actually still read try a technique called STAMPING OFF as you can see below.
Once you ink up the first image (which goes in the background) stamp it onto scratch paper to remove a bit of ink, then stamp down on your project. The color you will get is a lighter version of the full strength color. Then come back with your second image (the one that goes in the foreground) and stamp in full strength. Pretty result, huh?
Of course once I ran out of flags I just punched a few shapes with White card stock and used those. I love how simple these cards were to put together. I have thank you cards for DAYS!!! In fact I have so many of these I am going to package up several and send them to my Demo Family as a gift. Have you ever thought of becoming a Demonstrator?
If you have ever toyed with the idea of becoming a demo, and had questions or didn’t know where to start- let me say that I am happy to chat with you and answer any questions you have. In fact right now Stampin’ Up! is hosting an AMAZING promotion for anyone that decides to become a Demo. Right now, through June 30th, when you purchase the STARTER KIT (a.k.a. sign up to become a Demonstrator) you get to choose 2 ADDITIONAL STAMP SETS of any price for free to be included. So you get to choose $125 worth of catalog product for JUST $99 plus it all ships for FREE!!!
Plus you can select me as your mentor or what is called an “up-line”. I have an amazing group of ladies in my Demo family, there are a variety of different Demo’s too… some of the ladies signed up just so they can get the discount on Stampin’ Up! products for themselves and others have smaller more personal business where they make cards and sell at events and shows. There are others who strictly sell their goods online and then others like myself who get to call Stampin’ Up! their FT job.
The great thing is that you don’t have to claim any one of these, or you can call yourself ALL of them. What you do with and how you utilize your Demonstrator-ship is completely personal and up to you. To continue getting the product discount you simply have to maintain sales of $300 per quarter- that’s it! If you don’t then you no longer get the discount, but there are no other penalties or drawbacks… Stmapin’ Up! doesn’t come to your house and confiscate all your product or anything. LOL!!
