There is so much to share with you today, all new WEEKLY DEALS (which are FAB!) and a fun card with a SUPER simple coloring technique created for Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge! I will be honest, I miss my blendabilities just as much as the next stamper… in fact maybe more so, because I can’t feature them in class projects (that would be cruel to my stampers that didn’t get the chance to even buy one…) so I don’t use them that often. Makes me wonder if they thing that I don’t love them??
I digress… so because I like the shaded effect on my lined images and I didn’t feel like digging out my watercolor paper and the BLENDED BLOOM flower is a little too big to be using my blender pen I decided to go with what I call the LAZY STAMPERS SHADING TECHNIQUE…
Yes, this is a super simple card, but I wanted the focus to be on the coloring and the technique and not get overwhelmed with other images, so I stuck to just one flower. And since I needed a get well card right now, I paired it with that sentiment. To create this effect is simple, first I stamped my image using BLACK STAZON INK, then I colored the entire image in a light shade of what ever color I am using… for this one I used BLUSHING BRIDE. Then I come back in and add my shading with the darker shade of the coordinating color, and for my sample I used STRAWBERRY SLUSH, which you can still get in the markers!!
The final step, the step that actually does all the work… I add a layer of DAZZLING DETAILS to the entire flower, making sure to be careful about applying the DD over the center… where ever you have 2 different colors (the petals and the center for example) I make sure to apply DD carefully to those areas making sure the liquid doesn’t run into one another. Check out the end result… it’s FAB and the liquid from the DD causes the inks from the markers to bleed into one another which is awesome… it does most of the work for you!
Here are the colors we are using this month in our color challenge. This is a pairing I wouldn’t have thought of naturally, but it totally works. STRAWBERRY SLUSH, HELLO HONEY and NIGHT OF NAVY. Pretty cool!
