HSS Technique Challenge #69 Paper Piecing

Good Morning Stampers!!!! I am so thrilled to share this weeks project with you.  It is all about PAPER PIECING over at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  It is a technique challenge and all you need is some line image stamps and patterned paper.  It’s as easy as that!  So lets take a look see at what I have!
I love to get double duty from my stamps/punches and dies.  So I love it when I can create something different from the items intended purpose.  This is the adorable lady bug card I made.
I started by wheeling the background of my card base and then the background of my focal strip.  Man those make quick work of creating texture on a card.  Then using some retired designer series paper and my oval and 1″ circle punch I start to piece together the bugs body.  I used what should be s floral building stamp set, those wings are actually petal stamps for a flower :)
I cut them out and assembled my bug.  Super easy and I will make a tutorial once this crazy week calms down. Then I added 2 black brads for the antenna and with my black stampin’ write marker I filled in the thinner part of the antenna.  Simple as 1,2,3!

I layered my rose red card base with certainly celery layered behind my whisper white focal strip.  Then I took my paper piercer and made a little bzzzzzzzzz trail for my bug.  I think it is just too cute how it looks as if it is buzzing off the card.

Then I wrapped the band with retired black gingham ribbon and attached my homemade tag to it.  I used a retired set for the sentiment, and punched it out with the 1-1/4″ circle punch.  Then using my 1-3/8″ circle punch I framed the sentiment with certainly celery punch shape.  I added a eyelet and BAM, you have a homemade tag- you never have to worry about running out of metal edge tags with this option.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks project, and wait till you see what I have in store in the weeks to come.  I am moving my craft room- AGAIN!!!  My current one is simply too small, so off we go to another room in my house and I have some awesome storage ideas I want to share.  It will take me a bit to complete, especially since the kids will be out of school, so bare with me. :)  Have a great week and until next time~ TTFN

  1. Erin, this little ladybug makes me smile, for sure! I especially ove the little “bzzzz trail” you added. Is hat a technical term? Because I love it and I’m using it! It just sounds fun! Love the little brad details to the antennae and the cute tag. Is that the Awash with Flowers stamp set you used to make the ladybug, too? SO cute! :)

  2. Erin,
I love how you paper pieced the lady bug image. Great use of your punches. So clever!

  3. Such a cute card. So sad that this set is retiring.

  4. Can you say Cute? This is adorable.

We Love to Hear From You
