HSS a Card and SOMETHING ELSE Challenge #39

Good Morning Stampers!!! I was SO excited to share this weeks challenge with you from Hand Stamped Sentiments– BUT first I have to give a HUGE shout out to my Cuz- Shannon, she had her 3rd little man on the 22nd!!! Congrats GIRLY!
Ok, so onto my excitement… this weeks challenge over at HSS is “a Card and SOMETHING ELSE” and since Halloween is just around the corner, I have been working on Teachers gifts. I was in HL yesterday and saw a pic of this project in a scrapbooking magazine and thought, “hey I have these cute tins that I made left over from last year, this would be perfect!” So I know you are dying to see what it is, DO not skip to the end :) it is worth the wait!
So first I have to tell you a little about the card, I loved this set when it was available (actually the alphabet set is retired too… sigh) But I made a version of this card before I ever joined stampin’ up! at my uplines (Shelia’s) house at a card class she had for us. It was SUCH a cute card that I recreated it for this season!
I admit that the ribbon is from the $1 spot at a different store- don’t stone me… on my original card we used orange rick-rack- ribbon and I have to say that was WAY cuter than this but it is all I had.

Last year I decorated these tins, also from the $1 spot, using the rub-ons that we had in the catalog. I made the tags and then added the rub-ons directly to the tins as well.
Now, here is the FULL Monte for the project. I saw these candy tree’s in the magazine today- I honestly can’t even remember what the title of it was… I was looking at it while I was in the check out line and saw this, jumped out of line to go get the foam cones I needed for the project! Once you secure your cone into your base you simply attach the candy using straight pins in layers moving upwards on your cone. Once you reach the top you finish it off with ribbon or in this case I used curling ribbon. Easy Peasy. So easy that I made 9 of them, thankfully I have no candy left to pleasure myself with- you know what I mean, dirty birds!

Well I hope that you enjoyed today’s project and I hope you decide to join the FUN over at HSS. We love to see your ideas, so play along! Until next time~ TTFN
