As YOU get ready to assemble, create, address, and send your Christmas and Holiday cards I have some helpful tips for YOU that will make your cards even more cute than you thought possible and save YOU TONS OF TIME!!!
So I have a couple recommendations for YOU that I always suggest for the holidays, but honestly they are great tips for any time of year when you have multiple cards or say invites to send. So these tips will prove to be helpful for Birthdays, Graduations, Weddings, and more- BUT for today we are going to focus on how to save you time for YOUR Christmas or Holiday cards.
TIP #1: START EARLY– I usually recommend that if YOU want to send HAND MADE cards that you start around late August or early Sept., depending on how many cards you will be sending. My Sister-In-Law usually sends out over 100 Holiday cards, and she starts on them in January… she also has a rule that I have as my second tip!
TIP #2: MAKE YOUR MULTIPLES MANAGEABLE– Make small amounts of several designs if making large amounts of Holiday cards. If you have ever made multiple card designs you know how monotonous the process is. If you have ever made a large number of a single card design, then YOU probably know once you hit card #20 you are regretting the design you selected, then once you hit #40 you HATE the card that you are going to send to all your friends and family! Make 10-15 of each design, this will prevent you from wanting to tear your cards into itty bitty pieces with disgust.
TIP #3: PERSONALIZE YOUR INTERIOR SENTIMENT– Getting a personalized stamp with a totally personal message will make completing your Holiday cards done in a snap! Just think about all that handwriting you do in each of the cards you send out… it’s amazing that you don’t have carpel tunnel yet! You can get these simple personalized stamps to say anything you would like up to 4 lines and 32 characters a line. These personalized stamps aren’t JUST for return addresses- you can put anything on the lines, for example MINE says;
& HAPPY NEW YEAR,
From the Gonzales Family
TIP #4: GET TECH-IE FOR THE HOLIDAYS– If you are up for getting a little tech-ie then YOU can save a TON of time!! If you get these cool time savers called TALKING TAGS, you can place these fun little messages inside the card or even on the envelope themselves. It would be a FUN way to put your voice (literally) in your holiday cards. I LOVE this product for those cards that are sent to our military!! Just think how awesome it would be for those honorable military men and women to get a holiday card that has the sound, fluctuation and literal voice of their loved ones in or on their cards! These things are COOL!! They would also be great for those family and friends who might not have the best eyesight any longer.
TIP #5: GO DIGITAL AND WAIT TILL THE LAST MOMENT– procrastinators need not fret about sending their holiday cards! You can upload a family photo to a designer template and send them off to be printed in NO TIME!! You can personalize any of the text on these templates and to alter them is SUPER easy. Check out some of the designer templates HERE– and if you need assistance in design and altering the templates CONTACT ME for more assistance. PLUS, did you know that included in the cost of the printed card are envelopes, seriously- envelopes are included for each card you order. The best part is that YOU can get a discount on the printing of your holiday cards through Stampin’ Up! until the end of November, so you can save even more!!
TIP #6: SAVE YOUR TASTE BUDS THIS SEASON– Using the AQUA PAINTER to seal your envelopes will save your taste buds this season. Who really likes how those glue strips on envelopes taste? NOT ME, DO YOU? I didn’t think so… but the great thing about this tip is that you can really use this YEAR ROUND!! The aqua painter is easy to fill with water and with a slight squeeze of the fingers you will have the right amount of water release and will easily run over the glue strip and seal your envelopes with the greatest of ease. You could even give this step to you kids to complete and make the Holiday cards task a family affair.
TIP #7: DECORATIVE PERSONALIZED RETURN ADDRESS STAMP COMPLETES THE CARD! Using a personalized return address stamp on the outside of your envelope completes the entire process, BUT there is a way to make this end point even cuter!! If you were to take some round Avery labels and stamped your adorable personalized return address stamp in them then placed them over the seal on the back of the envelope to finish it off… can we say ADORBS!!
TIP# 8: BIGGER ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER– To prevent spending an arm and a leg on postage to get your personal pieces of art out to your family and friends, be sure to check the girth of your packaged cards. The USPS have put in place NEW width guidelines and prices to boot. To be sure that your cards are not returned to you, or worst yet- have the card delivered to your recipient with postage DUE! Try hard to keep your embellishments as flat as possible, so I would avoid LARGE rhinestones or pearls or TONS of layers that will add to the height of the card (and weight as well).
