Double Challange Today- PPA25 & Inspiration Challange 54

Here is the “inspiration” that was given for the Inspiration Challenge 54 this week. I LOVE these new designer cakes that are all the rage now, see how I interpreted it…

Here is the inspiration for the PPA25 challenge. Who can resist Chocolate right?! This challenge was a little more difficult for me since when I see chocolate I usually recreate it very literally instead of in more of a creative way. So I tried as much as I could to be more creative than I normally would be… :)
So, here is what I created. I saw this cute item featured on another amazing blog (I am SO sorry I can’t remember where I saw it :( I need to start bookmarking them). I love the colors I used: Apricot Appeal for the ribbon and the card stock is Close to Cocoa, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, and Whisper White.

I don;t have the Bigz Clear Scallop Square die for my Big Shot yet, so I used my scallop edge punch instead and it took a bit more measuring BUT I was able to make the box bigger than I could have with the die, which of course means MORE CHOCOLATE!!!

I hope you can tell how large the box is, I guess it would have helped to actually HAVE chocolate in the container. Sorry, but chocolate DOESN’T last long in my presence.

I used white Craft ink and White Embossing Powder for the Chocolate tag and Close to Cocoa Classic Ink for the White tag. You can get them all HERE at any time!!!

Now, onto the semi-tutorial for you. I started out first with a 8-1/4″ square piece of card stock. Then starting in one corner I lined up the corner of the card stock in the middle of the scallop punch to give the corner a round end to the corner. From there you work your way around the sides punching all the scallops out. And you end up with a scallop square that measures 7-3/4″ square.

Then I scored it not by measuring but by counting…I counted 7 scallops in from each side, then rotate the square and score again by counting the 7 scallops to make a grid look on your square. THEN punch small holes in the corners for the ribbon to slide through. Also score the 4 outside corner squares from the outside corner in to the center of the square.

fold all your score lines so that your box bends easily.

fold the diagonal score lines inward so the box folds properly, repeat for all 4 corners.

Then you will slide the ribbon through the holes and your basically done- once you decorate it! :)

I hope you enjoyed this fun project, and best part from conception to completion it took me all of 40 min, which is pretty fast in my book.
