Pom Pom Water Color

Today I am using some inspiration from Hand Stamped Sentiments and it's all about POM POMS this week!  I thought that would be a fun challenge to push myself creatively, was I right... you should have seen the first monstrosity I created... 

  ugh- this one was not as easy as i thought it would be.  So I fell back on a technique that I think everyone loved and I threw in some POM POMS for good measure!!

 This technique is so super simple and I am going to upload a video tutorial on it later today. :) So be sure to check out my YOUTUBE CHANNEL for that, later today... like afternoon later.

Con-"QUACK"-ulations!!

Well today I was able to help out a friend make some ADORABLE baby shower thank you's and a few invites as well.  Her theme for the baby shower she is hosting is "DUCKS".  She has some seriously cute games and decoration ideas for the shower too!  here are the invites and thanks yous we created.

 I LOVE this stamp set that she picked out for this card.  We tweaked the invites a little so they would still coordinate with the thank yous but not be too matchy-matchy. :-)

 She wanted the THANK YOU to be duck related so she came up with the Than-Q, I thought it was pretty funny!  We got the design for this card straight from the Stampin' Up! catalog- check it out-

NEW PAPER TRIMMER UPDATE

I know many of you have been sitting on pins and needles just like me waiting for the arrival of Stampin' Up!s NEW PAPER TRIMMER, and although I would love to share with you a sales date- sadly I am not.  I do know that stampin' up! is working feverishly hard to get that date for us all.  They are still working with their manufacture to be sure that when the item is available to the public it meets ALL of Stampin' Up!s high quality standard, and I for one am really glad that they do that!!!  So know that I will pass along the info as soon as it arrives.

Embossed Water Color Technique

I have a fun quick project for you today- I thought about using this card in an upcoming class and decided against it.  I love how it turned out, but I think this project is more for a technique class and not the class I made it for.  Check this out~

I loved making this card- it was pretty easy although it looks fussy.  This technique is super simple, here's what I did:

• Emboss water color paper using Manhattan embossing folder
• Before removing the paper from the folder, take a white crayon and run it over the raised areas of the pattern (use the side of the crayon with all the crayon paper removed)
• Use the Aqua painter to cover the images with water
• Pick up color from the lid of your ink pad with your Aqua Painter then gently touch the areas that you want darker color- because the paper is damp the color will automatically bleed out getting softer.
• The white wax from the crayon prevents the color from adhering to the raised areas and will prevent color from bleeding from petal to petal- so you will need to place color in all the areas you want.

That's it- simple as that, you just let the paper dry and attach it to your card.  I am going to make a tutorial with this technique just to show how easy this type of card really is.  It is super easy with this embossing folder BUT I am dying to see what it would look like with other patterns.  I will keep you posted.

Chevron Embossed Argyle

I DID IT!!! I am SO thrilled with todays card I created for a few challenges.  I have wanted to try ans see if I could make an embossed inked argyle pattern for some time now and I actually gave it a shot today.  It took me a few tries but I finally did it!!

I created this card for this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge and I used the colors provided by ColourQ

 

Check out the Tempting Turquoise and the Basic Grey crisscross Chevron pattern, I made it using the Chevron Embossing Folder, some ink, and my BIG SHOT!!  I had to do it a couple times to get the patterns to line up properly but it finally worked!  I made a layer of embossed vellum in the Argyle pattern as well for good measure and then I used the sentiment from this set that I got FREE at Convention this year!  I didn't get the framelits that go with it cause I didn't think I would use them BUT now I am rethinking that decision!  I love this set and I love the shape and I HAVE to get the framelits now!

I also LOVE the look of the scallops around the circle edges of the image and then accented with the squares, I of course HAD to embellish the entire card with a few dots of glitter here and there! It wouldn't be mine without the glitter!

Sept. SCRAPBOOKING CLASS

It felt SO good to get my hands on some punches and paper yesterday!  I am so thrilled to share with you my project for the upcoming SCRAPBOOKING CLASS for September, yes- already!  Here's what we are making in class~

 We will be creating this layout that I made using a few inspirations... one is a sketch that I have pinned to my Pinterest boards and I used a technique challenge for Hand Stamped Sentiments this week- HERRINGBONE!!

 I thought this would be a great layout to create for the beginning of the new school year!  What child wouldn't love a page that showcases how AMAZING they are?!  I can't wait to surprise my kids with this layout, once I have the pictures put in and the journalism completed.

 We are going to learn how to create these fun embellishments, some Herringbone circles and circle flowers.  They are easy and fun embellishments to create!

Well this is where you will get to see more "in the moment" tid bits from me.  Yes I post my class schedule there, and yes I share my MONDAY MISH-MASH video series there, but you can also get a NEW FREE PROJECT TUTORIAL by LIKING my page!! I am in the process of getting my ON-LINE STORE up and running there as well, so you will be able to purchase kits and such.  If you LIKE my page you will be the first one to know the status on that endeavor as well!  My FANS on Facebook were the only ones who got "real time" updates from event's like Stampin' Up! Convention.  I will say for those of you who already LIKE my page that if you don't interact with me periodically there that the robots at FB assume that you no longer are interested and they slowly stop sending you my feeds and updates until you no longer receive them, ;-(   SAD FACE.  To me Facebook is like being here with me in my stamp studio, but virtually. Doesn't that sound fun!!
