THREE WAYS TO RECYCLE YOUR CARDS!!!

I am often told by my fellow stampers that they tend not to send out the cards they make because they fear that the recipient will just throw their handmade creations away, well I can't say that I blame them!  BUT I wanted to share with you today three different ways that you can recycle your cards... the ones you make and the ones you receive.

1) LITERALLY RE-USE YOUR CARDS... 

simply trim off the card front that you received and re-attach to a clean card base.

You simply cut the card at the score line, for this card it was at 5-1/2".  Notice that the original card folded at the TOP and when I cut it off I reattached the card front to a SIDE folding card base.  The new card base measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4".  Now this card is ready to be re-used to keep the sharing moving along.

2) INSPIRATION... 

you can use your cards as inspiration for your scrap pages.

 I loved this card so much I thought it would make a GREAT scrap page, another way you could take this idea a step further is to use your card as a scrap page element.  For instance on this scrap page I could  change the Vanilla layer with a solid or pattern paper and placed the card front (my inspiration card) where the green photo mat is.  I would rotate the layout so that the card would be at the right orientation and then I could add a photo mat where I have the flower on the layout.  See a few changes and then your cards now become not just a page element but the jumping off point for your pages.

3) RE-PURPOSE YOUR CARDS... 

give a NEW life, a new purpose to your cards- especially for special occasion or themed cards!!

You could take a sweet and elegant Christmas Card slice it up just a bit... and create something wonderful to decorate your home or give away as a gift.

This would be a great item to give back to the family that sent you this beautiful Christmas Card.  Think what you could do to turn a card that one of your kids might have made into a memory frame like this.  Include a sweet photograph of you and that child and you now have a memory that can be saved forever and showcased for all to see!

Why It's GREAT To Be A Hostess!!!

This month my Hostess Clubs will be making the following project, in preparation for Fathers Day.

This 12x12 layout and coordinating card will be our project for the following Hostess Clubs

Project Hostess: meets Friday, May 18th from 7-9 PM at my home

SA Hostess Club meets Sat., May 19th from 1-3 PM at my home

McAllen Hostess Club meets Sat., May 26th from 1-3 PM at Diana Chavez' home

If you aren't a member of one of these clubs don't worry- you are still WELCOME to come and make this project.  You can come and if you place a qualifying order of $25 your project is FREE and if you decide not to place an order the project is $8.00

Want to start a club of your own, or want more info about how clubs work? 

It's easy... 6 people make up a club and they meet every other month for one year. At each club meeting the members place a minimum of $25 in order and each member get a turn at being the hostess.  So what are the benefits of being in a club??

SAVVY STAMPING CLASS

This month we are going to learn how to take a pack of Quick Accents Pack and a few pieces of card stock to create a SLEW of cards!!

These cards can be used for girls or boys and can be used as Thank Yous, Birthdays, or just Thinking of You style cards. Making these kinds of cards are super easy and quick!  You will even have enough products left over to create more than the 10 cards that we will make in the class.

It is all about the BANNERS this month for our Scrapbooking class.  Here is the project that we will be creating!

DEEP BREATH IN, Deep Breath Out...

IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!

I know a lot of you (myself included) freaked out a little yesterday when you looked at the RETIRING ACCESSORIES LIST. I couldn't believe we were going through a change over with the inks AGAIN!!  But one of the beauties with being a DEMO is you get access to articles that go into more detail than the general public.  So once I started reading about the items on the retired list and their explanation behind it, I was THRILLED!!!  The first thing I want to talk about is the NEW INK PADS!! I am SOOOOO excited!

Here is what they look like~ not THAT different right? Well, sort of... these NEW FIRM FOAM pads are seriously the BEST of both worlds!!  The style or casing of the pads are the same so they will still fit nicely in your color caddy and they still include that amazing patented open/closing feature.  If you don't know the reason behind SU's design let me share...

The pads are designed to allow the actual ink pad to be stored UP-SIDE DOWN when it is not being used. That is the reason for the flip top lid.  When you flip it closed the pad is sitting up-side down so that the ink will settle along the TOP of the pad, ensuring super duper juiciness for your next stamp-capade! :-)

However, the NEW IMPROVED features are that the pads now will come with labels found under the container.  You can place these on the ends for easier locating when they are housed in your color caddy.  AND as you can see there is the NEW FIRM FOAM pad!! I cannot tell you how EXCITED I am for this.  I have always been bad about re-inking my pads and if you aren't pretty good about keeping your pads juicy they can curl on you.  That STINKS!!  I am so glad that SU! took the time to remedy this issue.  THEY ROCK!!

I cannot wait to get my hands on those pads, seriously SO happy!!

My Make-Shift PERCH!!

NO CRAFTINESS in THIS POST~

OK- so it's time for an ankle update... I have been trying to be as good as I can to my little ankle (or cankle) by not being on it that much.  I will be honest, I thought I could push myself to do normal stuff within a day or two- YEAH RIGHT!!  This thing HURTS, and I will be the first to admit that it has really put a cramp in my style!! I was finding that I was really becoming depressed (seriously, it isn't that hard for me to get there- I need people to talk to and sunlight!) SO I had to get back into my studio, so my hubby and I devised a way...

I basically would crawl around the house on my knees with my foot pointed in the air- I can't believe HOW MUCH FASTER I can move like that versus hobbling around on my feet- SO FRUSTRATING!!! So I would crawl from room to room, and I am even faster going UP the stairs, my hubby thought it was freaky cause it reminded him of that weird girl from the "Ring" or one of those freaky shows.

I would stand at my desk and put my leg up on my bar stool- PERFECT!!!

At least for about an hour, then my left leg would start to fatigue and shake.  My daughter said I looked like a flamingo with one leg up in the air... No one said crafting was glamorous, LOL!!

Here are some comparison pictures, sadly they don't look SO different.  The one on the left is my first day, that was taken either shortly before or after we went to the Dr. (I believe it was before??)  The one on the right was taken yesterday.  You would be shocked to see how fast I am on this thing now.  I can't run or dance on it yet but I can walk pretty well and with just a hint of gimpi-ness. I was sad to see that my most recent one actually looks fatter (or swollen??) than the first one- UGH!!! I didn't realize that my entire foot got swollen, even my arch.  Notice the toe ring is gone... yep- luckily I iced my toes long enough to squeeze that sucker off before I had to cut it off- I did that during one of my pregnancies.
Thanks so much to everyone who sent well wishes, and I am relieved to be getting back to normal life!! Now onto something crafty... :-)
