Do you ever feel like you use the SAME traditional colors when making Halloween pages or cards? ME TOO!! Which brings me to my project for today- I had a few challenge inspirations that helped me direct my creativity and here is what I made:
I have to admit that I don't make a TON of Halloween cards (aside from what I make for Teachers Gifts) but I do have a TON of pictures from previous Halloween's that need layouts and I am going to PUSH my self to design them with "out of the box" creativity. I am really pleased how this card turned out... I wasn't so sure where or how this would turn out as I had never done a project for Halloween without black, green and purple... but I REALLY LIKE IT! I like how it is still creepy but cute all at the same time.
I LOVE my NEW Halloween sets and used them both: Tricky Treats and Monster Munchies! I used some simple paper & ink colors: Whisper White, Summer Starfruit, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mamabo, Primrose Petals, Pumpkin Pie, and Peach Parfait (retired). I used the Tag, Scallop Circle, and Scallop Square punch. I layered the Stitched Satin Ribbon on top of the Seam Binding ribbon to give a tone on tone type of effect. I used several embossing folders for texture, like: Houndstooth, Chevron, and Perfect Polka-dot. Of course no project would be complete without some BLING!! I added some tinted Dazzling Details on my little spider and for her hat!
So I got a sketch for my layout, a color inspiration and lastly I picked up a third Challenge from DYSU where the challenge was to create a project with a 4-legged friend, well I did one better! I made a card with a SIX legged friend, LOL!! I am always lookin' to one UP myself, LOL!!!
Now YOU give it a try! You don't have to create a Halloween project but push yourself. See if you can create a themed project using a different format, medium, or color scheme to push your Mojo juices. I will tell you when you step back to admire your finished product you will feel so satisfied knowing that you took on something that felt intimidating but you did it, and did a GREAT job too!!
This is something that I am striving for in my new Savvy Stamping class format where I really help those that attend to really stretch and grow as creative people, that to me would be so fulfilling.
