HSS Technique Challenge #35

Good Morning Stampers!! I am so excited to show you the project I made today for the Hand Stamped Sentiments Technique Challenge for this week! It is using the Baby Wipe Technique, if you have never tried it you MUST, and if you have never heard of it check it out HERE!!! There are 2 different kinds of techniques using a Baby Wipe, I used the "swiping" one. :)

For this weeks project, I used a design that I have come to LOVE and use a LOT!! Sometime too much- I love anything baroque looking or that has that type of feel to it. I used regular vanilla card stock instead of the glossy card stock that it recommends in the tutorial. I wanted to see what effect it would give me, and I must say that I kind of like the rustic weathered feel it gave the card.

I kept the card very simple and really tried to play up the texture of the card instead of the bling and embellishments this go around. I threw in a splash of elegant eggplant as a layer of color behind my main stamped image.

I also kept this card very general so that I could use it for any occasion that came up. I love having a ton of these types of cards around, because if you know me well- you know that I am never all that prepared. It would never show though, I always have a stash of cards laying around and so when I need one- I just yank it out and jot down a note. I gave a slew of these to my good friend who is the pres. of our Relief Society. She keeps them in her car so if she misses someone when she stops in to see them she can leave them a note. She loves them!
Well I hope you enjoyed this weeks project, please head over to HSS and play along- we would LOVE to see what you create for this weeks challenge. I love to share and get inspiration from everyone. Have a great day and until next time~ TTFN

HSS Sketch Challenge #34

Good Morning Stampers!!! This weeks Challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a SKETCH!!! We get these amazing and FREE ideas and sketches from our monthly magazine, Stampin' Success, as part of our demo-ship at Stampin' Up! This thing is chuck full of ideas, tips, and inspiration. I cant wait to get into a hot bath and peruse the entire thing every month.

This weeks card has more of a french flair to me. :) I just LOVE LOVE LOVE anything Baroque style to it. I also love the colors of Red, Black, and White (ok, so those were my old school colors- maybe they are subconsciously ingrained in my brain??) I just love making my bows POP from the card, and I know that when I mail then they don't come out like this. I try not to think about that. :)

If you can see that I stamped the whimsy background images with Black craft ink and used iridescent ice and heat embossed them to give them that glittery look and they also have a nice chunky feel to them as well. I used the retired ruby red patterned designer series paper as my background layer for the base of the card. I stamped a simple floral image as the main stamped image and finished it off with a bit of crystal effects and glitter.

I used my paper snips to create a curvy layer to the card as well. I stamped my baroque images on to vellum and them mounted that onto a piece of glittery white card stock that I trimmed out the same design as my vellum.

With a simple sentiment at the bottom, you could use this card for ANYTHING!!! I love making these all occasion cards just to have on hand for whenever. Check out the sketch for this challenge over at HSS, use it to create a scrap page or other project and share it with the rest of us. Don't hide your creativity under a bushel. :) I am glad you joined me this week and until next time~ TTFN

HSS Theme Challenge #33

Good Morning Stampers!!!
This weeks challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments is THEME, and the theme that was chosen for us to play with is SCHOOL!!! How fun and limitless. I am doing something that I have not done in a LONG time- a digital scrap page! I love the fact that with My Digital Studio you have so many options. You can choose to work off of a designer template (kind of like making a page or book with a Simply Scrappin' Kit) or making it completely from scratch with no template required. I of course used a template, it helps jump start my creative juices. :)
So lets take a look see at what I made for you this week... I decided to get moving on a book for my kids called sKool is Kool- OK and I think it is even more hilarious because it is all misspelled and is all about school. If you could see me you would see how funny I think this is. :) Not to mention if you knew me even better you would know what kind of a horrible speller I am and that makes this all the better, I can screw up and no one will know because it looks completely intentional. :) hehehe

So I have a few layouts for each year that they have been in school and when I am completely done with the book they will have finished grade school, then I will have a separate one for Middle and High school. I thought those were better than year books- personally. I have gone to my kids schools every year and taken picture of them with all of their closest friends and at school parties and then they get to have their friends and teacher sign their sKool books at the end of the year. The only thing missing from the end of each year is the very last party on the last day of school, BUT we start each year out with a farewell tribute to last year (with snap shots of that party) and a welcome to the new year (with shots of them on their first day) this way all the events are covered.
This has been great for a few reasons the biggest is that it has actually helped market my business, I have gotten so many leads and new stampers/crafters from doing this for my kids. When the Teachers and parents see these cute book I have even had some parents request one and offer to pay me to make them one. It has been a great asset to my business and not to mention wonderful for making memories. :) Well I hope you enjoyed today's FUN and fast project. Come by and visit us at HSS and play along. Lets see your SCHOOL theme inspired creations. Until next time~ TTFN

HSS Color Splash Chllenge #32

Hi There Stampers!!!
I am so excited to share with you my project this week for the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge- we are using Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake. At first I thought it might be difficult to combine all those colors into one card, but I figured out real quick that it is completely possible and beautiful all at the same time. So lets take a look see at what I did.
I have to admit that I used Chocolate Chip Ribbon for this card, I didn't have the new Espresso color YET... but the fab thing about those two colors is that the accessories for both are so close in hues that you can hardly tell the difference. :)

I love this little addition of splitting my background layers, I was looking for inspiration and came across a swap that I had received YEARS ago where the individual had done this- I am truly sorry for not mentioning the name of the person BUT the swap is so old that the info (if there was any) on the back was missing. Actually there was an entire layer of the card missing, they are packed so tight in this little box I have that they sometime come apart and meet up with other cards and become new creations by accident. :)
I also used a sponge dauber and with my Tangerine ink I smudged up the edges of the main layer for my images. I think it gives the card a nice soft dreamy feel to it.
I also did a different technique for the main image, I am sure it has a formal name but I cant think of it at the moment. :) I used my marvelous markers to ink up my image (Old Olive, Daffodil, Espresso and Tangerine). I added a little of the tangerine to the outer edges of the flowers and "huffed" on the stamp to moisten it and to work the two colors into each other. Some of you might be wondering what HUFFED is... you know that thing you do when you breath heavily onto the glass so you can write a funny or obscene phrase in the condensation you created? Well that is HUFFING for all intents and purposes of this blog. :)

I wanted to give you an up close image of the flowers, I think they turned out so nice and this wonderful set has such a cool texture pattern to the images.

Well I hoped you like this weeks fun, fast, and easy project that I created for you. Please take a moment and come join us over at HSS and play along. We would love to see what you have to create and share with all of us! Until next time~ TTFN
